Wipe Testing
Wipe Testing is a necessary legal requirement (Health Dept. or EPA regulation) to ensure the integrity of the source. The Wipe Testing Procedure is performed on a periodic routine to ensure the source capsule is not "LEAKY" allowing dangerous isotopes to escape into the surrounding environment.
A "LEAKY" source capsule is deemed unacceptable and dangerous and must be disposed of under the guidance of the relevant Authority.
The actual test is a simple procedure where a specialised wipe is used to pick up any loose materials from the surface of the Source Holder. A Wipe Test Well is used to perform a contamination count.

One of A&DM's Engineers will visit your site and perform the wipe test. At the conclusion of on-site testing an "on-the-spot" certificate is supplied for your records.
Alternatively a wipe may be taken by the Site Radiation Safety Officer and forwarded to A&DM for analysis. A Certificate of Compliance is issued within 5 working days from receipt of wipe.
We have Three Licensed Engineers on staff, all of whom are competent in our range of products and services. We have been associated with the design, manufacture, installation commissioning and maintenance of Radiation Detection And Measuring equipment since 1976.
